A new plant is only as good as the people who run it. That is why operator training is part of every turnkey project we deliver. In this photo, our engineer explains the distillation units to the customer’s team on site.
What you see in the photo
The team stands between the stainless steel condenser columns, with the stills on the platform behind them. Our engineer, in the blue Dünder shirt, walks them through each step. Meanwhile, one member takes notes on a tablet.
What operator training covers
- Start-up and shutdown: the right order of steam, water and valves.
- Loading: how much plant material to use and how to pack it.
- Process control: steam rate, temperature and run time.
- Separation: how to read the sight glass and draw off the oil.
- Safety: hot surfaces, pressure and emergency steps.
- Cleaning and care: daily, weekly and seasonal tasks.
How we run operator training
First, we explain the plant on the drawings. Then we walk through every unit on site. Next, the team runs the first batches while we watch and guide. Finally, the operators run a batch on their own, and we hand over the plant.
Why operator training pays off
Trained operators get more oil from every batch. In addition, they avoid damage and downtime. As a result, the plant reaches full capacity much sooner. You can read more about the general topic of training here.
In short, operator training is the last and most important step of a turnkey project. See our essential oil distillation units and our references.
We also leave a clear operating manual and a maintenance plan with the team. As a result, new staff can learn from the same material later, and the plant keeps running at the same standard year after year.
