Concrete is rich and fragrant, but it also holds natural waxes. For fine perfumery, those waxes must go. That is the job of an absolute production unit, and the photo shows one at work in our hall.
The main parts of an absolute production unit
- Mixing tank with agitator: here the concrete dissolves in alcohol, while the agitator keeps the mix even.
- Coil-heated vessel: the coil controls the temperature during mixing and cooling.
- Cooling and filtration: the cold solution lets the waxes turn solid, so the filter can hold them back.
- Vacuum evaporator: it removes the alcohol at low temperature and leaves the absolute.
Why each step matters
Waxes do not dissolve in cold alcohol, while the aroma compounds do. Therefore, good cooling decides how cleanly the waxes separate. In addition, vacuum at the end keeps the fragrance safe from heat.
The result is what perfumers call an absolute. It is clear, strong and almost free of wax.
Watch the absolute production unit process
This video shows the steps from concrete to absolute in one of our plants.
A typical batch, step by step
- First, you weigh the concrete and load it into the mixing tank.
- Next, alcohol goes in and the agitator starts.
- Then the coil warms the mix until the concrete fully dissolves.
- After that, the coil cools the solution so the waxes turn solid.
- The filter then holds back the wax.
- Finally, the evaporator removes the alcohol and you collect the absolute.
Capacities
Our ABS series covers 10 kg per day (ABS 250) and 20 kg per day (ABS 500). Also, we can design other sizes. See the full process on our absolute extraction plants page.
In short, an absolute production unit takes your concrete and gives back a clear absolute and reusable alcohol. Good temperature control and vacuum make the difference, so we build both into every unit.
FAQ
What goes into the unit? Concrete. You make it first in a solvent extraction line.
Which flowers can I use? Rose, jasmine, tuberose, violet and many others.
Does the alcohol go to waste? No. The evaporator recovers it, so you can reuse it in the next batch.
